Applying for NDIS

Applying for NDIS funding

Do you, or someone you care for, live with a disability, mental illness or developmental delay?

Do you have an ongoing condition that means you need support to do everyday things for yourself?

Is your disability permanent? Does it affect you taking part in everyday activities?

Are you under 65 years of age?

Everyone who applies for NDIS support has to meet the NDIS requirements.

There are many different causes for disability. Two people with the same impairment won’t have the same experience. What is right for one person may not be for another person.

Who’s eligible for NDIS?

Not everyone with a disability can apply for support through the NDIS.

You might be able to apply for support through the NDIS. Have a look at the NDIS Checklist.

We can help guide you through the NDIS process.

Preparing for a Planning Meeting

One of the main parts of NDIS is your NDIS plan.

You plan is developed at a planning meeting.
Your plan is about your life. It’s about what you want to achieve and your goals. Your plan will spell out the supports you’ll need.

Your plan has two sections:
1. how you’ll achieve your goals; and
2. how you’ll be supported
Planning and knowing your goals is the key to getting the right funding for the services you want.

You’ll meet with an NDIS planner – it’s their job to create a plan that’s just right for you.

What do you need?

At your planning meeting, you’ll talk to a Planner or Local Area Coordinator about the support you need for:

  • daily life
  • routines
  • hobbies
  • education
  • your network
  • employment opportunities
  • short and longer-term goals
  • steps you can take to work towards your goals

Everyone’s goals are different. It’ll depend on your interests and life stage. Think about what’s important to you.
